On Friday, 9th February 2017 St Francis’ had a visit from Channel 5 News! St Francis’ participates in the Chess in Schools Programme. Chess has long been regarded as a game that can have beneficial effects on learning and development, especially when it is played from a young age.
It is believed to develop analytical, synthetic and decision-making skills, which children can transfer to real life. The year 2 pupils at St Francis’ have weekly chess lessons; see what our pupils have to say about what they learn from chess.
